Assistant Professor of Accounting

The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Accounting in the David W. Wilson College of Business seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position, starting in August 2025 or January 2026. Primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in Accounting Information Systems. The department has a secondary need in Tax.
 
The department is open to candidates with a variety of research agendas, areas of specialization, and methodological approaches. In-person, on-campus teaching and regular office hours are required. Applicants seeking a balance in teaching/research responsibilities will find a collegial work environment, with a faculty actively engaged and committed to the growth and continuous improvement of the Department. The Department of Accounting (www.business.uni.edu/accounting) consists of 10 full-time faculty members and approximately 400 accounting majors. In addition to the undergraduate program, the department also offers a Master of Accounting degree and an in-house CPA review program. The department has a long history of teaching excellence, high CPA exam pass rates, and active external engagement with the top CPA firms and major corporations. Our faculty are committed to high-quality scholarship and service to the academic community, and to the College’s scholar/teacher model. The department has also been recognized for innovation, as the recipient of the 2024 KPMG Accounting Program Innovation Award from the leadership section of the American Accounting Association.

Education Requirements:
PhD or DBA in Business with an emphasis in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution required. ABDs near degree completion will be considered.
 
Required Qualifications:
Strong teaching and research record or evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and research; strong communication and interpersonal skills; and relevant accounting work experience required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification; stand-alone teaching experience; evidence of ability to create an engaged and applied classroom environment; evidence of ability to advance the academic, professional and personal success of students; and active participation in professional associations preferred.
