Position Summary
The Director of Investor Relations is responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage, retain, and grow the investor base of Grow Cedar Valley. This role involves fostering strong relationships with current and prospective investors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and driving revenue growth through increased investment and retention. The Director will also work closely with internal teams to deliver exceptional value to investors through customized engagement, programming, and communication.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Investor Engagement and Retention:
- Build and nurture relationships with current investors to understand their needs, goals, and expectations.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure high retention rates among investors, assisting with monthly billing and receivable process.
- In tandem with the Office Manager, act as a primary point of contact for investor inquiries, providing timely and effective communication.
- Work with the Director of Marketing to create onboarding/renewal email flows, and review and update annually.
- Coordinate efforts to showcase investor success stories and business milestones through events and marketing channels.
- Collaborate with the Director of Events and Engagement to schedule, identify speakers and facilitate Grow Cedar Valley’s Investor Relations events. Events include, but are not limited to New Investor Briefings, Power Networking and Lunch and Learns.
- Support small businesses and diversity in business ownership by leading annual Sponsored Investor application, selection, and engagement process.
New Investor Recruitment:
- Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective investors.
- Develop targeted outreach campaigns to attract new investors, focusing on the value proposition of Grow Cedar Valley membership.
- Conduct presentations and meetings with potential investors to showcase benefits and opportunities.
Revenue Growth:
- Develop and implement an annual sales strategy and corresponding budget to drive new investor acquisition, tier advancement, and retention.
- Partner with other directors and staff to align investor engagement strategies with overall organizational goals.
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve investor relations efforts.
- Collaborate with the CEO and finance team to set annual revenue goals and track progress toward achieving them through regular meetings, performance reviews, and tracking software.
- Monitor and analyze membership trends and adjust strategies as needed to achieve revenue targets.
- Collaborate with Director of Events and Engagement on development of sponsorship opportunities that support organizational revenue goals while providing visibility and value for investors.
Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of investor interactions using a CRM system.
- Provide written and verbal updates to investors, stakeholders and Grow Cedar Valley Board of Directors.
- Responsible for Tiered Benefits annual review & update (guided by survey feedback and usage).
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Lead the Investor Relations Committee, including planning and facilitating regular meetings, engaging committee members in strategic initiatives, and leveraging their insights to strengthen investor engagement, retention, and recruitment efforts.
- Serve as the liaison for Grow Cedar Valley Ambassador program.
General Expectations
- Actively contribute to idea generation, best practice development, and organizational goal setting.
- Stay current on best practices, trends and needs related to position (be attending webinars, conferences, newsletters, research, etc.)
- Actively participate in organizational events, serving as a representative and advocating for Grow Cedar Valley, providing support as needed.
- Proactive learning and utilization of CRM and internal systems.
- Annual review and update of documented processes.

Working Conditions
- This position operates in a professional office environment with opportunities for remote work. Position requires frequent in-town travel, and occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings and events.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in investor relations, fundraising, sales, or a related role, preferably within a nonprofit or membership-based organization.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Annual Salary: $85,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience. Bonus opportunities available based on performance.
