We are currently seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Grief Counselor to join our well-respected team in our Waterloo office.

Job Overview
Title: Grief Counselor
Location: Waterloo office (travel will be required to other CVH sites on a regular basis)
Job Schedule:

  • Full Time (1.0 FTE)
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Flexibility is needed.
  • Must be available one evening per week for evening work based on client needs and group offerings.

Responsibilities
  • Provides grief support services and follow-up to caregivers and community grief clients.
  • Participates in care planning and program development through attendance at grief services meetings and regular collaboration with hospice team members.
  • Documents all assessments, problems/needs, identified outcomes, plans and interventions in the bereavement client record.
  • Schedules and facilitates support groups in coordination with the grief services team.
  • Makes community presentations as appropriate and requested by Grief Team Lead.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, family services, social work or a related field required.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current Iowa driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work is preferred.
  • Experience in grief support, hospice or counseling work is preferred.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
 
Physical/Other Requirements
  • Ability to move 50lbs with or without accommodation.
  • In an 8 hour day, employee may remain in a stationary position 1-5 hours and move about inside CVH site offices/locations, meeting spaces, patient residences, and healthcare facility locations 2-3 hours.
  • Employment at Cedar Valley Hospice requires being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (Boosters are not required) OR having an approved request for reasonable accommodations for a medical, pregnancy, or religious reason, by the start date.
  • Pre-employment/post-offer physical, TB, and drug screen required.
