We are currently seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Hospice Nurse (LPN) to join our well-respected Waterloo office team.

Job Overview

Title: Hospice Nurse (LPN)

Location: Waterloo office (may be assigned to help at any CVH location as needed)

Job Schedule:

• Full Time (1.0 FTE)
• Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Cedar Valley Hospice offers flexible work arrangements to work around the needs of your family! Four 10-hour days and adjusted work hours are available. (Flexible work arrangements available after 90 day probation period.)
• This position requires an average of 1-2 weekends per year and 1-2 weeknights per month of on-call coverage.  A holiday on call rotation is also required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing assessment of the physical, emotional, and mental statuses of patients/families.
• Provide direct nursing care under the direction of an RN.
• Use teaching, assessment, observation, and intervention skills to provide comfort and care maximizing patient/family quality of life.
• Assist the RN in monitoring, observing, and reporting reactions to therapy and communicates responses to interventions promptly to primary RN.

Qualifications

Required

• Current Iowa state LPN license.
• Positive attitude and team player.
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to learn work-related software and have basic typing skills.
• Current Iowa driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance.

Preferred

• 3-5 years of recent experience as a nurse in a related field.
• 1 year of experience in hospice or home care nursing.
• Experience working in a team environment.

Physical/Other Requirements

• Ability to move 50lbs with or without accommodation.
• In an 8-hour day, employee may remain in a stationary position 1-5 hours and move about inside CVH site offices/locations, meeting spaces, patient residences, and healthcare facility locations 3-7 hours (or vice versa).
• Employment at Cedar Valley Hospice requires being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (Boosters are not required) OR have an approved request for reasonable accommodations for a medical, pregnancy, or religious reason, by the start date.
• Pre-employment/post-offer physical, TB, and drug screen required.
